The Parks Commission met for their monthly meeting. Mayor Jerry Jackson updated the group on some updates to Creekside that are still in the works.
“We are addressing the lack of heat in the lobby area, especially with the doors opening constantly,” Jackson said. “We also have more furniture coming for the walking track area. At the large windows, there will be tall stools and tall tables so they can look outside at that beautiful view.”
Parks Executive Director Chuck Eddington said, “As of this morning, we had 941 memberships with 1,811 members. We also have 10-15 memberships purchased for Christmas gifts, but those won’t appear on our records until Dec. 26.”
Eddington also said additional signage for the walking track has been addressed, and a drop curtain between the two courts should be installed on Friday.
The commissioners also heard the suggestions from members left in the suggestion box or emailed to parks. “We are looking at each one to see if it is a concern we can address or are currently working on,” Eddington said.
Now that many indoor basketball courts exist, the city is also working on additional outdoor pickleball courts.
During tournaments, additional staffing needs were discussed. It was also mentioned that if families could fill out their information online by following directions at HarrisonParks.com, it would speed up the process at the front desk. Now, a scanner is dedicated to those who just need to check in.
For everyone's safety, emergency contact information must be in the system. Only the host adult needs to be in the system for birthday parties.
The staff also shared many positive comments from Creekside members about how much they enjoy the facility. Remember to place your comment or suggestion in the comment box in the lobby area, where everyone needs to check in for their time at the facility.
